Astronomy Days
Saturday, April 16th The La Crosse Area Astronomical Society and Myrick Hixon EcoPark present the planetarium program Astronomically Correct
Is the North Star the brightest star? Can a comet hit the Earth? How big are stars? Come to the planetarium to find out!
Planetarium sessions will be at 1pm and 2pm on the UW-L campus in Cowley Hall room 18 in the basement. Adults are $3 and kids are $2. Funds raised will benefit the EcoPark and the Society. Parking is available for free in the adjacent lot.
Limited seating is available, reserve your spots today by contacting the Myrick Hixon EcoPark at 608-784-0303.
Evening observing
Join us for a free evening observing session from 9:00pm to 11:00pm at the Myrick Hixon EcoPark! Come out to view the Moon, Saturn, and other objects visible in the night sky through our telescopes weather permitting.
Sunday, April 17th Astronomy Fair at the EcoPark
Come to the EcoPark Sunday from 12pm-5pm for free exhibits, activities, and presentations.
Speakers
1pm-Bill Fasching-Meteorites: Rocks from Space
Bill will be bringing part of his vast collection, and sharing his knowledge about all things meteorite. Do not miss this rare opportunity to see real meteorites!
3pm- Paul Kinzer- First Steps in Astronomy
Paul is the Author of Stargazing Basics: Getting Started in Recreational Astronomy. How do I get started in astronomy? Paul will share his tips and techniques, and answer your questions.
